loan consolidation

When I was in school I eschewed student loans. Did I really want to deal with school loans, credit cards, car loans and a home mortgage? My friends have all these and have done two college loan consolidations already. Then they consolidated their credit cards into their home equity line of credit. I ended up with much more debt and no consolidation loan could help me get out of it… poor me.
